Luminous Sky Breathwork

Following the breath into healing expansion.

Pranayama: The Art of Healing breath

Breathwork journeys are a unique tool for releasing emotional weight from the body and ushering in joy, bliss, and a sense of deep peace. Luminous Sky Breathwork offers breathwork journeys that follow the 2-part active breathing rhythm of Pranayama followed by deep, restorative rest. Breathwork journeys are a 2 hour nervous system re-set, following the unfolding of your body into a place of newness.

Pranayama: tending our lifeforce

Pranayama is an ancient yogic art of learning to bring control and awareness to our breathing. Often individuals who struggle with anxiety and trauma can feel tension, constriction, or shallowness in their breath that further elevates their state of anxiety. Learning to bring gentle, compassionate awareness and intention to our breath not only eases the tension of chronic musculature holdings around the breath in the body and the fear of not being able to get enough breath, but it actually stimulates the vagus nerve which controls the nervous system in the body. Through stimulating the vagus nerve, we begin to feel safe and balanced. It is this embodied safety, through breathing, that allows us to open up the portal to the mind, body, and emotions in healing ways. The habitual blocks and resistance that you may experience to certain memories and feelings, or that are even at times creating pain or illness, are no longer needed when the body feels safe. Emotional, physical, and spiritual release can then occur. Physically, breathwork tends to the lifeforce in our cells and our cellular energy and can help assist in healing the body through this re-energization followed by deep rest. Because safety is so important for breathwork, Shura creates a container of loving safety for you to come and enter your own personal breathwork journey.

What to expect during a breathwork Journey:

  • Before meeting for your breathwork journey, we will engage in a screening conversation where we will discuss you’re intentions for a breathwork session and determine together whether breathwork is a safe healing option for you. Contraindications for breathwork journeys include: Cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, severe asthma, glaucoma, detached retina, aneurism in brain or abdomen, epilepsy, and some mental health conditions depending upon severity. In a screening, we will discuss contraindications and determine together whether breathwork is the right experiential support for you.

  • In a 2 hour session we will:

-Connect and lay the foundation for the breathwork journey

-Move and awaken the body, releasing any tension before laying or sitting down for the active breathing

-Settle in with music for an hour long breathing practice, with 30 minutes of active breathing

-Integrate and process the experience and discuss home-based practice suggestions. Journaling and art are incorporated to support integration.

  • During a session, Shura will support your process through healing touch (per your consent) and energy work and may draw upon various ritual tools such as essential oils, rattles, stones, crystals, feathers, drums, chimes, etc. to support the clearing of your chakras, any embodied holdings that are moving and ready to release, and to support your body with loving energy.

  • All bodies are welcome and supported in breathwork! Accommodations can be made to support you in having the most comfortable breathwork experience possible.

  • Each breathwork journey is accompanied by a custom-intuited playlist to support your healing expansion.

Recommendations:

  • To honor the purity of the power of breath, it is advised that you refrain from any mind-altering substances for 24+ hours before a breathwork session (alcohol, cannabis, etc). It is also recommended that you refrain from eating 2 hours prior to your breathwork practice.

  • Please wear comfortable clothing for your breathwork journey, refraining from belts and bras (comfortable bralettes are ok).

  • Aftercare following a breathwork session is important! General recommendations are to engage in easeful and gentle activities such as: journaling, epsom salt baths, time in nature, fire-gazing, cuddling, aromatherapy, reading of uplifting or positive texts, and napping. It is encouraged to nourish your body with clean ingredient food and to drink herbal teas and water.

FAQs

  • Absolutely! Shura offers breathwork journeys as a therapeutic option to clients throughout Michigan who are not engaged in a counseling relationship with her but instead want to experience breathwork on its own. Shura will schedule a screening call with you to help assess whether breathwork is a positive, safe option for you at this time.

  • If you are a current client engaged in ongoing Psychotherapy sessions, please express your interest in breathwork to Shura and she will assess with you whether breathwork is a safe option of healing for you at this time.

  • Please reach out after a breathwork journey if you feel an integration session would be helpful for you in enhancing the insights and benefits of your experience.

  • I recommend really attuning to your physical and energetic body for the week prior to our scheduled journey, especially with nutrition and in refraining from substances. Coming to the breathwork with this kind of intention can only enhance it’s ability to energize and clear the body. Using natural skin and hair care, such as coconut oil, to prepare the skin for detoxification is also recommended.

Breathwork Testimonials

What a gift to be given! Working with Shura opened up my senses to a heartfelt place of belonging and ease. The way she holds space is both soft and confident and clearly attuned to my specific energy. Like other powerful ceremonies that I have attended, the benefits of the session continued to reveal themselves to me in the days and weeks beyond our time together. I highly recommend working with her for those looking to go deeper into their embodied authenticity.
