What is a Breathwork Journey?
Breathwork journeys are a unique tool for releasing emotional weight from the body and ushering in joy, bliss, and a sense of deep peace. Shura and Malina facilitate journeys that incorporate the 2-part active breathing rhythm of Pranayama followed by deep, restorative rest. Breathwork journeys are a 2 hour nervous system re-set, following the unfolding of your body into a place of newness and expansion.
Are their health considerations with Breathwork?
When contacting Shura and Malina to register, we’ll schedule a phone screening call to discuss whether breathwork is a safe healing option for you. Contraindications for breathwork journeys include: Cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, severe asthma, glaucoma, detached retina, aneurism in brain or abdomen, epilepsy, and some mental health conditions depending upon severity.
Why Silence?
Silence is a unique and profound healing modality that can really only be known from the inside out. The space that is provides allows for a deep, regenerative journey toward the Self and the Divine in all its forms.
Silence is a spiritual practice, it is also deeply embodied, and Silence and Soma honors this sweet wholeness of our human, and feminine experience - to be rooted and expanded, embodied and transcendent at the same time. The inner well of this wholeness offers great celebratory energy to us, the desire to create and be in a state of joyful beauty and beautiful joy. We've crafted this retreat to honor the spiritual potential of silence AND, this retreat is inclusive of any positive intention you bring into the space. Some seek silence not for spiritual reasons, but for rest, for nervous system regulation, for personal reflection time, etc. You may also just be drawn to this experience without a clear intention: that's great too! We believe the understanding of this kind of retreat and practice can unfold in the practice itself. We're here to support you as you listen to the call and curiosity of your body, mind, soul, and spirit to enter into communal silence.
Will there be support if I’m struggling?
Yes! There will be daily times to schedule a support talk with Shura or Malina. We will also have written daily penpals for sharing and processing in written form.
What support is included before the retreat?
Once you’ve registered, you’ll have the opportunity to schedule an individual 30 minute online meeting or call with Shura and Malina separately to begin to craft your intentions for the retreat. You’ll also receive journal prompts and reading suggestions leading up the the Retreat.
